Assertiveness - a Workshop by Roleen Kaplan - Conference Speaker, Transformative Life Coach, Facilitator

Today’s world is marked by fast paced living, high pressure to succeed or simply, to survive. Road rage, trolley rage and even office rage is breeding a new generation of highly aggressive human beings who have lost their compassion and sensitivity for the human condition.

People are forgetting or perhaps have even forgotten how to express their needs and wants without violating the rights of others, without listening so as to understand the other person’s perspective. People are allowing their aggressive behaviours to become habitual, without realising the harm being done to self and others, personally and professionally. Assertiveness skills could be a means to an end and a beginning to being proactive without being punitive.

Aim of the workshop:

To improve daily interactions through assertiveness and confidence.

What the workshop covers:

Assertive behaviour can be learnt by anyone through practice. Practicing assertiveness skills is a sure way to negotiate win-win situations. Assertiveness is empowering and facilitates co-operation and commitment, and wins the respect of colleagues, customers and those on a personal basis.

What will be learnt on the workshop is to:

Recognise how attitude and behaviour can create a negative impact and jeopardise own feelings of wellbeing
Distinguish between assertiveness, aggression and submissiveness
Manage the demands of your personal and professional life
Learn to decline a request and still be responsive and helpful
Be congruent whilst still being assertive
Respond to resistance without becoming aggressive
  Handle criticism
